International cooperation
ELLIS
European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems
The IDEAS Research Institute is a part of the prestigious ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems) network. It is a European research community that brings together the best teams working on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and their responsible application. ELLIS aims to develop groundbreaking technologies, support basic research, and build an innovative, sustainable, knowledge-based future.
IDEAS' participation in the ELLIS Unit Warsaw structures
ELLIS Unit Warsaw operates within the IDEAS structure – the first ELLIS branch in Poland and one of the first in Central and Eastern Europe. The unit focuses on creating artificial intelligence that is not only effective, but also ethically responsible, reliable, and transparent.
The team conducts research in areas such as intelligent algorithms, sustainable and energy-efficient machine learning, game theory in the context of security, interpretable AI, and the compatibility of language models with axiological systems.
The director of ELLIS Unit Warsaw is Prof. Tomasz Trzciński, PhD.
ADRA
AI, Data, and Robotics Association
The IDEAS Research Institute is a member of the Adra Association (AI, Data and Robotics Association), a European organization bringing together leading research institutions, companies, and non-profit organizations operating in the fields of artificial intelligence, data, and robotics.
Adra's goal is to support cooperation between the worlds of science, industry, and public administration, and to shape European policy on the development of modern technologies. The association represents scientific partners within the AI, Data, and Robotics Partnership—a key initiative of the European Commission that sets strategic directions for research and innovation in these areas.
IDEAS' participation in the ELLIS Unit Warsaw structures
The participation of the IDEAS Research Institute in Adra's structures enables active participation in the European dialogue on the ethical and sustainable development of digital technologies. Membership also allows it to contribute to the European Union's research agenda in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data technology, as well as to develop international scientific partnerships and projects funded by the Horizon Europe program.
Through its involvement in Adra, the IDEAS Research Institute contributes to to build a responsible innovation ecosystem in Europe, based on the principles of transparency, openness, and public trust in AI technology. An employee of the IDEAS Research Institute is currently also a member of Adra's Management Board., Krzysztof Walas, Ph.D., Eng.
ELIAS
European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems
The IDEAS Research Institute is participating in the ELIAS project – European Lighthouse of AI for Sustainability, implemented as part of the Horizon Europe program. The aim of the project is to develop artificial intelligence that supports sustainable development, technological innovation, and responsible use of resources.
The ELIAS consortium comprises 34 partners from 17 European countries, representing leading scientific and technological centers, including those from the ELLIS network. The project partners were selected to combine scientific excellence with practical experience in implementing AI solutions in various sectors of the economy and social life.
ELIAS focuses on developing methods and tools that reduce energy and resource consumption in computing processes, analyze the effects of social policies, and measure the impact of technology on people and the environment. The project also supports the development of so-called. sciencepreneurship – a new career path combining science and entrepreneurship, which enables more effective translation of research results into real innovations.
IDEAS' participation in ELIAS structures
The participation of the IDEAS Research Institute in the ELIAS consortium strengthens its position in the European ecosystem of research on sustainable artificial intelligence and enables cooperation with leading experts in the field of ethical and responsible technology development.
ELSA
European Lighthouse on Secure and Safe AI
The IDEAS Research Institute is a member of the ELSA project consortium – European Lighthouse on Secure and Safe AI, funded under the Horizon Europe program. The ELSA project creates a virtual center of excellence aimed at developing secure, reliable, and trustworthy artificial intelligence.
ELSA's activities focus on developing methods to ensure the resilience of AI systems, protect user privacy, and enable effective human oversight of algorithms. The project also supports collaboration between academia and industry, the development of young researchers, and the implementation of innovative solutions based on European ethical and legal values.
IDEAS' participation in ELSA structures
The participation of the IDEAS Research Institute in the ELSA consortium enables it to contribute to the creation of European standards for security and trust in artificial intelligence and to actively participate in research on technologies that promote the responsible use of AI in society.
The ELSA consortium comprises 26 research institutions and companies from across Europe, including many entities and researchers affiliated with the ELLIS network.
