Professor at the Institute (K/M) in the Medical Image Analysis Unit

Scope of duties for the position being recruited for:
- conducting research on the application of artificial intelligence methods in the analysis of histopathological image data, scientific research on the potential application of artificial intelligence methods to aid in the diagnosis of myeloid leukemia; and the design and development of algorithms to aid in the diagnosis of medical imaging data;
- the application of the results of scientific research or development work in practice;
- disseminating scientific achievements, including publications and active participation in the scientific community;
- improving one's qualifications;
- training of research staff;
- publication of research findings at recognized international conferences and in scientific journals;
- building relationships with medical institutions in Poland and around the world to conduct joint scientific research;
- managing research and research and development projects;
- management of a research team;
- raising funds for research and/or implementation projects.
Qualifications required for the position:
- at least a postdoctoral degree in biomedical engineering;
- experience collaborating with medical institutions (as evidenced by joint publications with physicians from those institutions);
- significant scholarly achievements in the aforementioned academic discipline, as evidenced by publications in scholarly journals indexed in international bibliographic databases;
- experience in leading research teams;
- supervision or co-supervision of at least one doctoral program or doctoral defense that has been completed with the award of a doctoral degree, or an ongoing doctoral program or doctoral defense;
- reviews in doctoral dissertations and/or in habilitation proceedings;
- fluency in Polish;
- English proficiency at a minimum of B2 level;
- documented additional scientific achievements and academic activity, in particular: securing and managing research grants, awards and honors, highly cited publications, experience in international collaboration, activities in the field of science outreach, and membership in renowned national and international scientific associations.
Required documents:
- A resume or CV detailing your academic and professional experience, including your ORCID number;
- a scan or copy of the diploma certifying the academic degree and/or the decision conferring the academic title, as well as any specializations held;
- list of academic publications;
- proof of completion of internships, participation in conferences and symposia, and the implementation and acquisition of research projects;
- not exceeding 3,500 characters (1 A4 page) an abstract containing concise information about the candidate’s research interests, achievements to date, any participation in research projects, and their own research plans;
- Information regarding research projects, both currently underway and completed;
- a statement confirming fluency in Polish and proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level, with diplomas or certificates attached if available;
- a statement confirming full civil rights;
- a statement regarding the absence of a criminal record and disciplinary liability, prepared in accordance with the template attached to the announcement;
- A statement of consent to the processing by the IDEAS Research Institute of personal data contained in the submitted documents for the purpose of conducting the competitive selection process, in accordance with the Act of May 10, 2018, on the Protection of Personal Data (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1781) and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (Official Journal of the EU L 119 of May 4, 2016, p. 1).

Procedure for Conducting the Competition
- The Director of the Institute appoints a Selection Committee to conduct the competition. The Selection Committee conducts a formal review of the applications based on the documents submitted by the candidates. In justified cases, the Committee may request a candidate to correct any formal deficiencies within a specified time limit. Applications that do not meet the formal requirements will not be subject to further evaluation after the deadline for rectifying them has passed without result. Candidates whose applications receive a positive formal evaluation will undergo a substantive evaluation in the form of an interview combined with a presentation of their academic achievements. The interview may take place in person or via electronic means of communication. Candidates will be informed of the date and format of the interview well in advance. The Selection Committee prepares a report on the selection process and submits it to the Director of the Institute. The Director publishes the results of the selection process on the Institute’s website.
- The contest is announced as of July 20, 2026. with the decision and announcement of the results by August 21, 2026. The selection of a candidate in a competitive selection process does not constitute an obligation on the part of the Institute to enter into an employment relationship. The decision regarding employment is made by the Director of the Institute.
